I'm comfortable using XCode for building my crypto codes now and was going to build the robotics code using XCode but for the sake of compatibility I have to build the robotics codes using CodeBlocks, since my friend is using CodeBlocks (on Vista, of course! :P ).
Well, then I have to make CodeBlocks work on Mac, and fortunately, another friend was visiting our lab and helped us to get things done and make CodeBlocks running on my Mac!
Thanks!

Oh, one more thing to explain. I'm using C for crypto because it will be implemented to hardware so I need a fast and low level language for that. On the other hand, reffering to th...

The Spirits of Science (a re-post)

By and large it is uniformly true in mathematics that there is a time lapse between a mathematical discovery and the moment when it is useful; and that this lapse of time can be anything from thirty to a hundred years, in some cases even more; and that the whole system seems to function without any direction, without any reference to usefulness... This is true for all of science. Successes were largely due to forgetting completely about what one ultimately wan...

Transition - A Graphic Diary

Hwaaaa! I have just finished reading one of the most interesting comics I have ever read.
I don't read comics since I usually cannot follow the flow of the pictures and get lost in the middle of the story, but this one is great, I just read and enjoy it and laugh hard many times and wish that I could draw my thoughts and ideas like Tita.

The book is marvellous, want some more! I guess I will hunt for "Curhat Tita" very

Macbook : Decreasing Battery Capacity? [not really!]

I have just noticed that my macbook battery capacity is decreasing! I bought this on mid-Feb and suddenly the capacity is only 95%, awww come on!

I checked this using coconutBattery 2.6.3

My fellow mac-user had warned me that mac's battery capacity decreases rapidly. He is using iBook G4, and I thought that flaw wouldn't apply to Macbook, but it does! Sigh!

Is this related to some "good" or "bad" habit in charging the battery? I absentmindedly left my mac connected to the power outlet overcharged a few times, would that be the cause of this?

I need some advice from other mac users like tkmaia, merlyna, esduren, moyas, robymuhamad, sade and luche. Are you guys experiencing the same thing? Or there is anyone has any tips to prevent this thing from going on, or at least slowing down the process, hi hi hi. Thanks!

P.S: I forgot to keep the log of the battery condition, so I cannot tell you so much about the details!

Update:
I did some calibration like suggested by junkr, and the...

[sigh.. sigh..]

As I quoted from the book, Feynman said: "If you're teaching class, you can think about the elementary things that you know very well. These things are kind of fun and delightful. It doesn't do any harm to think them over again. Is there a better way to present them? Are there any new problems associated with them? Are there any new thoughts you can make about them? The elementary things are easy to think about; if you can't think of a new thought, no harm done; what you thought about it before is good enough for the class. If you do think of something new, you're rather pleased that you have a new way of looking at it.

The questions of the students are often the source of new research. They often ask profound questions that I've thought about at times...

I haven’t managed to finish either book by reading them in parallel. Doing this with intention to get rid of my boredom about my phd research and find some new and fresh subjects, I ended up thinking about cryptography/security, and being paranoid about keeping my stuff safe. Hi hi hi…

It’s interesting how people find their way around to crack a safe, guess a password, break into some unauthorized properties and so forth.
Feynman used every possible way to crack a safe.
Sticky Notes vs Mind Maps

I managed my things-to-do list using sticky notes cluttering my desktop for almost 3 months and ended up with many things undone. I did some grouping and give different colors for each of them but I could not set priorities. This really drove me crazy and gave me more headache. I gave up using sticky notes, except for some grocery list maybe :D

Then I put my list on iCal, along with my daily schedule. With iCal I can set the priorities of the task but still, didn't work for me, because I couldn't see the interconnections between tasks, and that made it harder for me to remember and switching between one group of task to another.

Then I got back using this perfect tool for my mind, hi hi hi.. because this way I can clearly see things and ideas and task intertwine with each other. Now I can focus on one branch and go deeper without losing the big picture, and get most of my stuff done! Excellent!

New great books!!!

Yeaaaay, today the books from Auntie Urie finally arrived!!!

The first one is this one!!! But, this one is different with the pics I found on the web...

It's like this everywhere...

Different cover for same title and author???

The second one is the super thick and a every-cool-cryptographer-must-read "Handbook of Applied Cryptography" by Menezes, van Oorschot and Vanstone. About a few week ago Budi Sulis let me have a copy of this book (thanks :) ), but now I have the original version!

The third one is the one I already copied from ITB library last year, "The Language of Mathematics" by Frank Land. I was upset because several pages was missing from the original book and the library only had one copy of the book. But now I have the book! It's an old book though (September 1960), but it's an exceptional reference book.

Well, ho ho ho... seems like the pile of book is getting higher, and higher...

Enjoy...

How I survived a fight with the 4-year-old
I had a fight with the 4-year-old who's been being difficult for about a week now. He's been being super rude and today I was in a really bad mood so the last time he yelled at me, all I can do was crying!

He apparently felt sorry to make his mother cry so bad, so then he took several piece of papers, started writing and drawing something, and quietly approaching me and put these drawings in front of me.

the front side

the back side

He didn't say anything but from the drawings and the big grin on his face, I know this is one of the best apology I've ever had!

Being an only child with no siblings, makes it harder to understand those unpredictable behavior of a little boy. Your older sister is so much like me when I was a kid, so she does not give me as much surprises as you do ;)

I don’t know if someday you will bother to read this namby-pamby letter from your mom, hi hi hi.. I think you might be very angry or ashamed if your friends ever read this post and you would probably find a way to delete this, huhahahaa…

But anyway, I’ need to express my gratitude to you, since I learn many things from you.

Ok, first, here’s what I like about you: You can be both brave and sensitive at the same time. Even though the braveness often freaks me out, you showed me that nothing to be afraid of. Too much worrying about many things will only slow us down.
But at the right time, you can be very sensitive, and loving. I cannot count how many times you wipe my tears, how many tim...

A Letter for Syahna

And when that time comes, you should be proud of yourself.
Yes, this is for you, Syahna.

I’ve been bothered by some opinion saying that a woman is better staying at home with their children, and should not working or pursuing higher degree of education. When the issue brought up, I started to contemplate about how good I am as a mother. Then I evaluate how is my relationship with you and your brother. And measure my performance as a mom, asking questions to myself like: am I doing my role well enough, have I made you both happy, do I spend enough time with the family, am I teaching you both lessons and so on.

After a while I found out that we’re fine. I might not be the best mom but I’m learning to be a better one. I want to prove that while I’m working and at the same time being a student, I can be good mother. I never attend any of those gathering parties that always seem very interesting for everybody else but me.

I also missed the most tempting one, last night. I was going to come because my very bestfriend from junior high school told me that it would not be fun for her to come without me. So I just threw away my “i don’t like reunion” feelings, and started asking permissions to my family (the most importantly, my kids, and they wouldn’t allow me!).

At the end I decided to stay with the kids, spending a nice and fun Saturday night at home. And it turned out to be the best decision, because my bestfriend called me this morning saying that “you wouldn’t like it anyway because there are so many people who weren't "in the same wavelength" with ours, and they are still the same until today!”.

Well, after thinking about this weird and uncommon me, I guess now I can describe why I don’t like reunions.

I’m different.
Re-routed the jogging track this morning, due to this "construction work".

This has been going for 3 days and apparently for a few more days, or maybe more than a week. To make it worse, there is a circus going to perform nearby, and they usually will stay for several weeks. Meaning that there will be this constant crowd blocking the way.

Then I have to find a more quiet, nice and dust-free jogging track to preserve my "contemplation routine" for a few more weeks to come :)
